What’s so empowering about Boudoir? – Concord NH Boudoir Photographer

make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.
While women have come a very long way in our society, there are still barriers to break through and stigmas to erase. One of the most pressing concerns I’ve witnessed, and even felt personally, is the fact that many women have a negative self body image. Our bodies are our vessels, our tools, or way of getting around and experiencing the world, but if you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin it can become difficult to let people in or live a life filled with joy.
“The whole process made me feel Free! Powerful! Sexy! Confident! …and *Beautiful!!” -A
A negative body image can effect clothing choices, decisions about group settings or outings, relationships, the relationship with self, and the overall mood of a person. When one is empowered, and self love grows, a ripple effect starts to happen and that confidence and joy begins to merge into all parts of one’s life. An empowered woman takes charge of her life, makes choices to better bring her joy, and has more room for love and compassion of others as the self love continues to grow.
“It was a healing process, a way to learn to love my body, and myself. My pictures are gorgeous and I love them. But more importantly, I can truly say I love me.” -K
Boudoir allows the woman to own her body, celebrate it, and preserve the sultry side. It shows each woman themselves in a new way, and in a new light. Both metaphorically and quite literally. When a woman walks into the studio feeling nervous and unsure, but leaves with a pep in her step and a full-on strut, I know I’ve done my job well.
“I enjoyed being really present in my body, getting creative with poses and feeling at home in my body. I found myself standing up straighter afterwards, proud of my body in a new way.” -E
It’s not about sex, it’s about intimacy. During a boudoir session each woman has to let go of the nerves and negative self talk. Raw emotions come through. When I allow a peek at the back of my camera, women tend to open up even more and let go of the worries. During that hour with me, they are free to let themselves shine and to be who they really are. After all, they choose who will see the images. The power of sharing these intimate moments is completely in their own hands.
“It’s one of the best things you can do to celebrate yourself and the beauty of your body.” -A
There is something powerful about women empowering themselves. We are mothers, creators, business owners, wives, lovers, etc… We are able to choose our paths. We are able to say yes to what we love and no to what we don’t. There’s also something powerful about facilitating this for women. I adore this niche for that reason, and I am teaming up with an incredible yogi to continue and deepen this mission. Together, we will be holding an event early next year. For now, we are building a community of women looking to be empowered, empower others, and connect to their higher selves.

PS: Does this community sound like something you’d love to be a part of?
