I have spent the past week and a half in Cape Cod, enjoying the sea air and sand between my toes. For a long time, being near the ocean has been my “happy place.” There are the obvious reasons, like family time and the beautiful view, but for me, it’s much more.
It calms me. The feeling of weightlessness as I lay on my back, floating in the water, takes away all of the weight of worry and stress. I’m able to be more mindful and in the moment. I’m able to really breathe. As a person with anxiety, this calm is gold. Being able to quiet my busy mind and just be is the most incredible feeling.
I do love the mountains, with their crisp air and spectacular views, but the ocean is my happy place. My true, blissful, limitless, happy place.
PS: What does your happy place look like?
